Until recently, illustration and painting have been two separate practices for myself. Drawing on paper with ink or painting on canvas with paint. I wanted to pick a simple subject to merge these two and the obvious choice was my cat, Monet. Her smooth wrinkles and drastic facial contours were perfect for a quick illustration that lent itself well to black lines of paint.

Though both mediums are sharing a canvas, I wanted the illustration to over-lap the painting in a way. I felt best to not consider the illustration while painting my abstract forms‎.
